| | | | Bill Thomas has, quite against his wishes, become known as the banjo player, sometimes with his cousins in Big Smith, sometimes with Cindy Woolf and the Mudskippers, formerly with Uncle Knuckle. But those in the know have been keeping a secret so far only whispered, that Bill has been sitting on an incredible catalogue of songs that he has written over the last few years. On May 4, 2002 he broke his silence and played a set of 9 songs to a privileged few as the opening act of the 1st annual Spokane Songwriter Festival in Spokane, Missouri. This is that set. He was joined by Molly Healey and Brandon Moore, two musicians now known for their own work in Moore-Healey. MayApple Records proudly introduces Bill to you, appropriately with the first show he ever played as a solo artist. Some of these songs are destined to be classics – “Grandmother Mabel,” “Names I Never Had.” You’ll hear much more from Bill - as of 2007 he has joined his cousins in Big Smith as a full-time member, adding to the chourus of songwriting and singing talent. In the meantime, we mean to whet your appetite with this delightful live performance.
