Hello, all! Happy back-to-school! Well, be it
north, east, south, or practically in our own backyard, chances are Big Smith
is coming to a town near you this week. There's lots
to tell, so I'll get right to it...
Big Smith opens up for the Carolina Chocolate Drops
tomorrow night, in Columbia, MO
That's Wednesday night, and if you haven't heard of this up and coming
group, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, check them out here. They
herald from North Carolina, have been recently featured on NPR's Fresh Air,
and among other things, they've been tearing it up across the country with
their twist on the old-time string band sound. We couldn't be more
excited to share a stage with them, and along with Columbia's own Hatrick, it all goes down tomorrow
night at Columbia's annual 9th Street
Summerfest (on 9th Street, in front of the Blue Note). This
event is free and open to the public, so if you live in the Columbia
area, come out and take advantage of your local entertainment resources, and a
beautiful summer evening, to boot! Big Smith will be starting around 7:30
p.m., the Hatrick will be directly before, and Carolina Chocolate Drops will be
directly after. We hope to see you there! Here are the details:

Branson Landing Friday (in front of the fountains!), Little
Rock Saturday, and special Sunday afternoon concert in West Plains, MO
Well, the time has come again for us to do three of our
favorite things: 1) dust off our pyrotechnics display for our outdoor concert
on the Branson Landing (we travel around with those big cannons, but they're
usually just too big for the nightclubs, you know), 2) play at the RevRoom in
Little Rock, AR, where the cocktails are sweet and the people are sweeter, and
3) play a Sunday afternoon concert fit for the whole family. Yeah!
Friday night, we'll be back for another outdoor concert on the riverfront
at the Branson Landing.
Okay, so the pyrotechnics aren't technically ours, but we can guarantee at
least one song to be loosely coordinated with the fiery cannons. What
more could you ask? Well, maybe that you can watch us for free?
Well, folks, you can do just that. If you haven't been to one of these
yet, it's free and open to the public, it's a blast, so bring the whole
family, and enjoy some of this fabulous late-summer weather before we
completely succumb to autumn. Show begins at 8:00 p.m. sharp!
Saturday night, we'll be back at the RevRoom in Little Rock, AR, and we
just can't say enough great things about this place. The food is great,
the atmosphere is snazzy, the staff is wonderful, and Little Rock always shows
us such a warm, sweet welcome. We love Little Rock! So, we hope to
see you all again, along with some new faces, for what should be a fantastic night
of music--Mockingbird
is opening the show! Big Smith starts at 10:00 p.m.
And finally, Sunday afternoon, we'll be performing yet another free
concert, this time for the fine folks of West Plains, MO, at the First United
Methodist Church. This is another one for the whole family, so after your
Sunday brunch, church, or what have you, bring everyone out for an afternoon of
hillbilly music. We'll be starting at 1:00 p.m., and will play till 3:00.
