Hello Coloradians! Is that offensive
to you, who live in Colorado, to be called “Coloradians?
Perhaps it is. That’s why Big Smith is coming your way this weekend, to get to
know you better. We don’t like it when people pronounce our state “missooruh,” for instance. Anyway, we sent this email to you
and all the other citizens of Colorado on our list (and one Nebraskan, hi Pam)
to let you know that we’ll be in Estes Park on Friday, Denver on Saturday, with
a stopover in Lincoln, Nebraska tonight, Thursday the 20th. We sure
hope you can make it to one of the shows. Here are the details: Thursday -
Lincoln, Nebraska Does anyone know
anyone in Nebraska? Are there, as cousin Bill asks, “any
taters to be dug there?” Alert any family or friends in that area that we’ll be
there tonight, won’t you? There’s a free biscuit in it for you when we get
back! Because we perform at Knickerbockers, 901 O Street in
Lincoln, tonight. Details are a bit up in the air, but last we heard, we
play an hour-long set beginning at 10:00 p.m. Ten O'clock Scholars play at
11:30 p.m. And the website tells us there’s another band on the bill. $5 cover. Friday - Estes
Park Oh, how we love
the people at the Rock Inn
Mountain Tavern. The first time we played there, it felt like we’d
been going there for years. The food is great, too, so come early. Join in the
fun as the lowlanders from the Ozarks try to catch their breath in the high
altitude. Will one of use puke? You can bet on it!! We’ll play two
healthy-length sets, starting around a quarter ‘til ten and playing until the
proverbial cows come home to roost, or something like that. We’re very pleased
that our good buddy Jeff Wiens from the MayApple roster of artists and the
Denver-based band Boat Car
has put together a trio for the night and will be opening the show. The Rock
Inn is at 1675 Highway 66 in Estes Park, CO. There’s a $6 cover. Call (970) 586-4116 for more info. Saturday - Denver Then it’s down to
Denver for our gig with White Water
Ramble at Quixote’s
(previously advertised at Cervante’s. Quixote’s is
next door). We’ve played with these guys in Missouri, they were mighty fine,
and it’s awful good of them to have us in their neck of the woods. We’ll open
the show at 9:30 and play a 90 minute set, then WWR
will do their thing. Doors open at 8:30, tickets are $10. You can call 303-297-1772 for more info. Big Smith
confirmed for the Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival, June 5-8 This is a big one
for us, as Wakarusa is developing into the largest music festival in the
Midwest. There will be some names there you’ll recognize, like Emmylou
Harris, the Flaming Lips, the Avett
Brothers, Leftover Salmon and many, many more. Our festival showcase
will be at in the Revival Tent at 1:30 pm on Thursday, June 5. If you’re so
fortunate to be hanging out in the VIP tent, we’ll also be performing acoustic
there on Wednesday the 4th. Here is the festival’s website.
We’ll keep you updated as the weekend draws near. The MayApple
newsletter is sent out every other week or so. If you do not wish to be a part
of this list, send a blank E-mail to mailing@mayapplerecords.com
and write "unsubscribe" in the subject line and this will be the last
message you receive. We respect your privacy and your name/address will not
be sold or distributed to any other persons, businesses or organizations |
